After the 1960 takeover by the King, Dr. Regmi who never accepted the party-less system, raised his voice for the restoration of parliamentary democracy and openly campaigned for multiparty democracy. In the1979 referendum he toured the country preaching the
merits of a plural society and multiparty democracy. In 1987 he again toured the country to campaign for multi-party democracy.
